WDTN is run entirely by volunteers and the service is provided completely free of charge.
For over 25 years we have been producing a weekly audio version of the Wallingford Herald. The recordings are sent out to our listeners on digital memory sticks. Each listener is given a special audio player.
We record news from villages in our local area, including:
~ Benson
~ Berinsfield
~ Brightwell-cum-Sotwell
~ Cholsey
~ Crowmarsh
~ Dorchester
~ Ewelme
~ Shillingford
~ Warborough
~ Watlington
~ The Wittenhams
~ Wallingford
However you can become a
listener wherever you live!
The recordings are sent out by post in sturdy wallets. There is no charge for postage, so listeners can return the
memory sticks to us at no cost. The returned wallets with the memory sticks are addressed to the Wallingford library, who
kindly look after them until we collect them for the next recording.
WDTN also sends out a monthly digest of the local village magazines including the 'Window for Wallingford,' and a full version of the Benson Bulletin. Each recording is read by three people drawn from our pool of more than 70 volunteers, so there is plenty of variety in the voices listeners hear.
If you would like to become a Talking Newspaper listener or would like to volunteer as a reader, producer or copier, please contact us.
